I BELIEVE
I BELIEVE
I believe in knowledge and the ability of intelligent, informed, educated humans to live so as to promote global peace and human betterment.
I believe in education. Education will solve most of the world’s problems. Almost every problem is a result of a lack of knowledge. Knowledge should be used to prevent problems. Opportunity favors the prepared mind. The greatest enemy is ignorance.
I believe in freedom, freedom of choice, freedom of religion, freedom of lifestyle (that I can afford), and intellectual freedom.
I believe in personal responsibility. Because I have the power to reason and to think logically, I cannot make excuses or blame others. What I am, who I am, where I am, is a result of all the decisions/choices I have made since I reached the age of accountability. We believe what we are taught and what we see (that is modeled to us) until we reach the age of accountability when we are able to use our power to reason and to think logically. Then, we begin to question and learn and form our own opinions. This age of accountability comes at different times to different people depending on many things including one’s level of mental development and emotional maturity.
I believe one person can make a difference by first taking care of self and then, by being a positive, cooperative, active member of home, neighborhood, community, school, house of worship, and government.
I believe the strong should help the weak, the old, the infirm, and the disadvantaged to help them overcome.
I believe only the contributing members should make decisions that affect the whole.
I believe in the mind and body connection, that how you feel is up to you, that you will find what you look for and that whatever you believe will work for you if your faith is strong enough.
I do not use religion as part of my identity. I believe there is a compelling force of energy within each of us. It has nothing to do with religion, mystery, or magic. It is a force of energy sometimes called, spirit, soul, and consciousness.
I believe the universal Golden Rule is an excellent standard to follow. “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”. It is included in most world religions.
I like the following words/standards: accomplishment, dignity, integrity, pride, respect.
I like this quote: “The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge”-Bertrand Russell.
